“We have four good goalkeepers, all very hard workers. They have the personality to be leaders and to help everybody in the club. I’m very happy with them.”

Pereira faces a tough decision ahead of Wolves’ Premier League fixture against Everton this weekend. At 31, Johnstone is an experienced goalkeeper who has been in similar situations before. Having played the role of an understudy at Manchester United early in his career, he eventually became a key figure for West Bromwich Albion, earning an England call-up during his time there.

His move to Wolves saw him initially play backup to Sá, but with increased opportunities under Pereira, he now has a real chance to stake his claim for a starting role.
