Marco Silva addresses Harry Wilson future amid Aston Villa F.C. transfer interest

March 2, 2026

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has broken his silence on Harry Wilson’s contract situation following growing speculation linking the winger with a summer move to Aston Villa.

Wilson, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, will become a free agent in the summer unless fresh terms are agreed. The Wales international has attracted attention after an impressive campaign at Craven Cottage, further fuelling talk of a potential switch to Villa Park.

Wilson shines as Fulham down Spurs

The 29-year-old underlined his importance to Fulham F.C. by scoring his 13th goal of the season in Sunday’s Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur F.C. at Craven Cottage.

Wilson’s form has been one of the bright sparks in Fulham’s campaign, combining creativity with a consistent goal threat from wide areas. His performances have inevitably drawn interest, with Aston Villa reportedly monitoring the situation closely as they assess attacking reinforcements ahead of next season.

Silva: “We are not giving up”

Speaking after the win over Spurs, Silva acknowledged the speculation but made clear that Fulham are determined to retain the winger.

“He is enjoying this season. He has the people around him to take care of these types of things, the contract situation,” Silva said.

“Our club is trying to have contact with them as much as we can to try to solve it.

“As you know, I am not hiding myself at all in this moment. The better he is going to play, the fight is going to be bigger. It’s clear, but we prefer it this way.”

Silva admitted that strong performances naturally increase external interest when a player enters the final year of a contract, but insisted Fulham remain hopeful of reaching an agreement.

“Of course, when a player goes into the last year of his contract, if he performs so well like Harry is doing, these types of things are going to happen. The reality is that we are not giving up at all.

“We are very pleased with him, he is enjoying life with us as well. Now is the moment for the people around him to take care of his future. And of course, for us as a football club to try to get him with us, if we can, for the next year.”

Villa’s summer planning underway

Villa’s interest comes as Unai Emery prepares for what could be a pivotal summer window. With Financial Fair Play considerations and squad evolution in mind, the Midlands club are believed to be targeting value opportunities — and a proven Premier League performer available on a free transfer would fit that profile.

Wilson’s versatility, work rate and eye for goal could provide added depth and competition in wide attacking areas. Villa are also understood to be assessing their creative options as they look to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.

A crucial few months ahead

For Fulham, securing Wilson’s signature on a new deal would represent a significant boost. Allowing one of their standout performers to leave on a free would be a blow, particularly given his influence in key moments this season.

For Villa, patience may be required as contract talks continue in west London. Much will depend on whether Fulham can convince Wilson that his long-term future lies at Craven Cottage.

With the winger’s stock rising and the summer window fast approaching, the coming weeks could prove decisive in shaping the next chapter of Harry Wilson’s career.
